The Board of Directors consists of 8 members. All such Directors must meet the qualifications stated in the Act and the Articles, and must be full members of the Corporation. To ensure consistency on the board, Directors are elected to a two-year term and can serve a maximum of three consecutive terms. In February of each year, Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan Inc. invites its membership to nominate individuals for election to the board. Elections take place at the Annual General Meeting held each year in accordance with the bylaws.
The Board of Directors has been structured to ensure full provincial representation. The board's eight members consist of representatives from the following regions: two from Saskatoon and area (30 km); two from Regina and area (30 km); and one from each of the NE, NW, SE & SW regions.
Criteria at the date of nomination:
- be a regular member of the Corporation at least 15 days prior to the election;
- have Board experience;
- possess entrepreneurial skills or be self-employed;
- be willing to inform self and adapt to the Carver model of Board governance;
- demonstrate strong linkages with the community and/or business;
- be willing to attend 6 meetings per year with an average time commitment of 5 to 10 hours per month;
- reside in the Region for which the nomination is sought;
- must not be a current loan client of Women Entrepreneurs.
Irene Boychuk
Chair
Irene is a representative for the Saskatoon region. She is a Chartered Accountant & partner with Hergott Duval Stack LLP and works with entrepreneurs on a daily basis. Irene has been involved in the Saskatoon business community for twenty years.
Evelyn Cooper
Vice Chair
Evelyn was elected to represent the North West region. She is a self-employed insurance broker, operating Stellar Insurance Service Inc. in Edam for the last ten years. Evelyn also serves on the local boards of the Edam Board of Trade, the Local Housing Authority and as President of the Edam Credit Union Ltd.
Audrey Ashcroft
Audrey represents the South East region and was previously on the Board from 1998 to 2002. She has been in the computer industry in Yorkton for twelve years as co-owner of Custom MicroSystems Inc.
Cindy Falconer
Cindy represents the South West region of the province. She is the owner of Travel Creations in Moose Jaw. Cindy has been involved in the travel industry for twenty-three years and has owned the agency for the past fifteen years.
Peggie Koenig
Peggie is the principal of Koenig & Associates, a firm she founded in 1994. As a senior level HR executive and entrepreneur her professional expertise includes recruitment and retention, compensation and rewards, strategic human resource initiatives, organizational development and performance management. Peggie is a representative for the Saskatoon region.
Jan Ursu
Jan is representing the Regina region. Jan was a previous board member of W.E. for six years, three of those years as Chair. Jan retired from the Royal Bank in July 1999 after working thirty-eight years.
