Janet Douglas Minimize

Janet DouglasHow has Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan Inc. helped you and your business?

I have been involved with MicroAge since 1992.  As with many businesses, we had grown over the years and one day realized that with larger revenues and an expanding staff we could benefit from more formal business practices.  W.E. was a great help to me when considering how to formalize strategic business plans, how to set up effective HR and performance measurement programs and develop marketing initiatives that could drive more success for us.  In 2008, we were the proud recipient of the 2008 Regina & District Chamber of Commerce Paragon Award for Customer Service.  It was wonderful to see that our efforts, with the help of W.E., resulted in positive experiences for our customers, for your staff and for the success of MicroAge.

In 1997, Janet Douglas along with 2 other partners purchased Regina Business Systems Inc. operating as MicroAge. Since then, the business has grown to employ 28 people and business has tripled over the last 3 years. Their success can be attributed to solid business planning, marketing initiatives, strong human resources policies and an experienced management group.

Its no wonder Janet Douglas was awarded the 2008 Regina Chamber of Commerce Paragon award for Service Excellence and was a finalist in the 2009 Regina Chamber of Commerce Paragon Awards in the Diversity category.  MicroAge is currently working on implementing a diversity strategy and is helping to employ individuals with diversified backgrounds to the information technology field, including aboriginal people, visible minorities, persons with disabilities and women. This just goes to show that regardless of an organizations size, all business should accept social responsibility for diversity hiring and this commitment can support a solid business strategy.

MicroAge supplies all major brand of computer and technical equipment, provides computer maintenance and warranty repair on desktops, laptops and printers, manages network installations and provides ongoing support, offering training courses on business software and provides on-site resources to outsource information technology expertise.
